Can I get the look of hardwood with tile flooring?
Yes, wood-look tile combines the beauty of wood with the waterproof capabilities of tile, meaning that you can now have that look in kitchens, baths, and other wet places where genuine wood isn't recommended for installation. In addition, you'll see an almost unlimited number of designs, colors, shapes, and sizes, which can all be mixed and matched when you come into our tile store.
What is wood look tile?
Thanks to modern technology called Inkjet, it’s now possible to create intricate, realistic patterns on the floor tile. In the past, designs were done by hand, which was a slow and often inaccurate process. These tiles come in assorted colors, including the high trending variation (a mixture of light and dark) with swirls and raised grains.
The ceramics can be cut into planks of various sizes combined to make different layouts, such as offset, stagger, weave, grid, modular, octagon dot, herringbone, and more.
Many use porcelain for this look because it's a heavier, more dense ceramic type that's ideal for busy areas like kitchens and some baths; it's waterproof whether or not it's glazed and is a large format, so there are fewer seams with which to contend. In addition, it comes in various colors and designs and can be made to look like anything from fabric and leather to wood and stone. It's also suitable for use on walls and tub/shower surrounds.
Like all ceramics, this is easy to clean but has a through-body color, going through the entire bisque and not just sitting on the surface of a glaze, making chips or scratches unnoticeable.
What is Inkjet Technology?
This is like a computer printer with multiple inkjets, sometimes up to eight, spouting color simultaneously. It allows for a wide range of brilliant shades and tones to be created, with different techniques, textures, dimensions (both tactile and visual), and finishes, such as polishing.
Inkjet also supports different glazes, resulting in you finding concrete, stone, and metallic tiles in our tile shop.
Tile flooring is an excellent choice, being versatile enough to use in any room and durable. It can also last up to 50 years when installed and taken care of.
